The Adsorption Apparatus OperatiX - 13 demonstrates dissolved material removal using two activated carbon adsorbers in a closed water circuit. This Adsorption Apparatus allows variation of adsorbate concentration, contact time, and water temperature to study adsorption behavior. It includes 8 sampling ports for plotting breakthrough curves and concentration profiles. Optional DAQ software enables measurement and calculation of results.

Construction and Design
The Adsorption Apparatus OperatiX - 13 is built around two adsorbers, each with a 75mm inside diameter, 600mm height, and 2500mL capacity. Both adsorbers are filled with activated carbon. The second adsorber functions as a safety Adsorber to protect the closed water circuit. 8 sampling ports are positioned on the adsorber, with sampling valves set 100mm from the bottom and 50mm apart from each other. A circulation pump moves water through the circuit at a maximum flow rate of 0.15 to 2.5LPM and a maximum head of 5bar. A metering pump injects concentrated adsorbate solution at a maximum flow rate of 0 to 4L/h and a maximum head of 8bar. A 3-stage heater, rated 3x1000W with a maximum power of 3000W, controls water temperature, displayed digitally. A feed tank and an adsorbate tank each hold 50L.
Software
Software OperatiX - 13 (optional). DAQ software specially designed in National Instrument™, LABVIEW™ environment to measure and calculate the results of the apparatus. The software is optional; a set of electronic sensors is included when the software is used. The software can be run in any Windows™ environment.
Scope of Delivery
Q: What is the Adsorption Apparatus OperatiX - 13 used for?
A: It is used to demonstrate how adsorption removes dissolved materials from water, using activated carbon adsorbers in a closed circuit.
Q: How many adsorbers does the system have?
A: The system has 2 adsorbers, each 75mm in inside diameter, 600mm in height, and 2500mL in capacity, with the second serving as a safety Adsorber.
Q: What parameters can be varied during experiments?
A: The concentration of the adsorbate in the raw water and the contact time of the raw water with the activated carbon can both be varied.
Q: Is data acquisition software available with this system?
A: Yes, Software OperatiX - 13 is available as an optional add-on, designed in National Instrument™ LABVIEW™ environment, and can run in any Windows™ environment.
Q: How is temperature controlled in the system?
A: A 3-stage heater rated 3x1000W, with a maximum power of 3000W, controls water temperature, shown on a digital display.
