Perfect Gas Law Apparatus ThermoFlux – 7077

Category: Thermodynamics Lab Equipment  ·  Country of Origin: India

Product Overview

Perfect Gas Law Apparatus ThermoFlux – 7077 is a bench-top laboratory trainer for experimental investigation of the perfect gas law apparatus principles, covering the first and second laws of thermodynamics and the pressure, volume, and temperature relationships for air. The unit consists of two transparent impact-resistant plastic vessels (large: 200 mm diameter, 18.5 litres; small: 150 mm diameter, 10.5 litres) connected by a large-bore pipe and valve with an integral air pump. The pump pressurizes one vessel while evacuating the other. Three operating configurations are available: isolation, venting to/from atmosphere, and pressurized-to-evacuated vessel transfer. Fast-response thermocouples in each vessel cover -100 to 400°C. Pressure gauges on each vessel cover -1 to 4 bar. Pressure relief valves and safety switches protect against over-pressurization. Construction and Design

The Perfect Gas Law Apparatus ThermoFlux – 7077 is a bench-top unit built around two transparent impact-resistant plastic vessels: a large vessel of 200 mm diameter and approximately 18.5 litres volume, and a smaller vessel of 150 mm diameter and approximately 10.5 litres volume.

The vessels are connected by a large-bore pipe and valve. An integral air pump serves both vessels simultaneously, pressurizing one while evacuating the other. Additional valves provide three distinct operating configurations: vessels in isolation, venting to or from atmosphere, and controlled transfer from the pressurized vessel to the evacuated vessel.

Fast-response thermocouple sensors in each vessel record air temperatures across the range -100 to 400°C. Individual pressure transducers record chamber pressures when the DAQ option is selected. Two pressure gauges covering -1 to 4 bar provide local pressure indication on each vessel. Pressure relief valves protect against over-pressurization, and pressure switches limit operating pressures to safe levels. The transparent vessel construction allows direct visual observation of the perfect gas law apparatus processes in real time.

A control box digitally displays air temperatures from both vessels. All sensor signals are available for optional continuous PC monitoring of pressure and temperature via the LabVIEW DAQ software package. The air pump can be operated manually or, on the optional computer-controlled version, via PC.

Software (Optional): ThermoFlux – 7077

DAQ software is specially designed in the National Instruments LabVIEW environment to measure and calculate results from the apparatus. When software is used, a set of electronic sensors is included. The software is compatible with any Windows environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What gas law experiments can be performed with the Perfect Gas Law Apparatus ThermoFlux – 7077?
A: The unit supports investigation of the First Law of Thermodynamics, the Second Law of Thermodynamics and its corollaries, observation of the pressure-volume-temperature relationship for air, and observation of transient responses to different rates of change in a process.

Q: What are the volumes of the two vessels in this perfect gas law apparatus?
A: The large vessel has a diameter of 200 mm and an approximate volume of 18.5 litres. The small vessel has a diameter of 150 mm and an approximate volume of 10.5 litres.

Q: What operating configurations are possible with the two vessels?
A: The vessels can be operated in three configurations: in isolation, venting to or from atmosphere, and in combination where the pressurized vessel vents into the evacuated vessel. Additional valves control each configuration.

Q: What safety features are included in the ThermoFlux – 7077?
A: Pressure relief valves prevent over-pressurization in the pressurized vessel. Pressure switches limit the operating pressures to safe levels. The vessels and interconnecting pipework are constructed from impact-resistant plastic.

Q: Is PC-based data acquisition available for this unit?
A: Yes, as an optional feature. All sensor signals can be routed to a PC for continuous monitoring of pressure and temperature changes. The optional DAQ software is developed in the National Instruments LabVIEW environment and is compatible with any Windows system. The computer-controlled air pump is also available as an optional accessory.
