Product Overview

The Steam Power Plant ThermoFlux - 7090 is a laboratory-sized steam power plant integrating a vertical fire tube SS 304 boiler (up to 7 bar), a single-stage impulse turbine with Curtis wheel (over 25 W, up to 30,000 rpm), a water-cooled shell and tube condenser, a 50 VA DC generator, a mini RO feed water system, and a complete fuel system on a skid-mounted assembly. This steam power plant is instrumented with speed sensors, K-type temperature sensors, pressure gauges, voltmeter, and ammeter across turbine and generation sections. Optional accessories include a water tube superheater, cooling tower, separating and throttling calorimeter, and steam lagging. Optional LabVIEW-based DAQ software is available for Windows-based data acquisition and performance calculation.

Construction and Design

The Steam Power Plant ThermoFlux - 7090 is assembled as a laboratory-sized package unit mounted on a skid for easy installation. The vertical fire tube boiler is fabricated from SS 304 and rated up to 7 bar. The automatic on/off burner operates on LPG/LNG or oil, uses forced draft with an atomizer, and incorporates a built-in mis-fire safety system. Two high-pressure switches, one mechanical pressure safety device, and both a digital temperature controller and bimetallic temperature safety device are fitted to the boiler. The feed water system includes a mini RO unit, soft water tank, feed water pump, and digital temperature display, with user-selectable automatic or manual operation. A fuel tank and fuel flow meter form the fuel system.

The single-stage impulse turbine uses a Curtis wheel configuration, operates at speeds of approximately 18,000 to 30,000 rpm, and delivers over 25 W continuous output at atmospheric exhaust pressure. Turbine runner diameter is 55 to 75 mm. Speed sensors, steam inlet and outlet temperature sensors, and a steam inlet pressure gauge instrument the turbine section. A water-cooled shell and tube condenser recovers condensate. The DC generator is rated at 50 VA, operates between 24 and 220 VDC at 3000 rpm, and is loaded by four 15 W lamps. A voltmeter, ammeter, speed sensor, and indicator are fitted in the generation section. This steam power plant supports optional accessories including a water tube gas-fired superheater, cooling tower, separating and throttling calorimeter, and steam lagging.
