Construction and Design

The Thermal and Light Radiation ThermoFlux – 7031 is constructed around a horizontal track fitted at one end with interchangeable heat radiation and light source assemblies. The heat radiation source is an electrically heated aluminium plate with matt black finish; the light source is a 60 W bulb configured for well-distributed output. Both sources have adjustable radiant power output. Distance scales are mounted on both the front and back of the track, enabling precise source-to-detector distance measurement throughout all Thermal and Light Radiation experiments. The radiometer and lux meter mount on clamped stands and are positionable at variable distances along the track. Three target plates, polished, grey, and matt black, each carry a bolt-on temperature sensor; their temperatures are displayed simultaneously on the control panel. An aperture plate (two vertically oriented metal plates) and a set of light filters complete the accessory range. All detector accessories clamp to stands for stable, repeatable positioning. Output from both the heat radiation detector and the lux meter is presented on dedicated digital readouts. The optional LabVIEW-based DAQ software interfaces with an included electronic sensor set for automated measurement and result calculation under Windows environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What radiation sources are included with the ThermoFlux – 7031?
The apparatus includes two sources: an electrically heated matt black aluminium plate as the thermal radiator, and a 60 W bulb as the light source. Both have adjustable radiant power output.

Q2. What are the three target plate types supplied, and how are their temperatures measured?
The three target plates are polished, grey, and matt black. Each carries a bolt-on temperature sensor; all three temperatures are displayed simultaneously on the control panel.

Q3. Which radiation laws can be verified using this Thermal and Light Radiation apparatus?
The unit supports experimental verification of the Inverse Square Law (heat and light), the Stefan-Boltzmann Law, Kirchhoff's Law, Lambert's Law of Absorption, and area factor (view factor) relationships.

Q4. How are source-to-detector distances measured on the ThermoFlux – 7031?
Distance scales are mounted on both the front and back of the horizontal track, enabling accurate and repeatable measurement of the distance between the radiation source and the detector at any position along the track.

Q5. Can the Thermal and Light Radiation apparatus be used without the optional DAQ software?
Yes. All experiments can be conducted manually using the supplied radiometer, lux meter, and control panel digital readouts. The ThermoFlux – 7031 DAQ software is an optional add-on for automated data acquisition and result calculation.
