Food process equipment should be selected around what students will change, measure and recover from the process. A dryer and a filter press may both sit in the same teaching laboratory, but they solve different learning problems and impose different requirements on feed preparation, utilities, cleaning and product collection.
Choose the process before the catalogue model
Begin with the material and learning outcome rather than the machine name. Drying work may focus on moisture removal and process conditions; filtration work may focus on pressure, cake formation and separation. The quotation should explain how the offered configuration supports the stated practical and what must already exist at the installation site.
Six points to settle before requesting quotations
- Teaching outcome: specify the process change or separation students must observe and the records they must produce.
- Feed and product: describe the teaching material, preparation assumptions, batch size expectation and collection arrangement.
- Measurements and controls: identify the operating variables students need to set, observe or compare.
- Cleaning and contact parts: ask how the proposed unit is emptied, cleaned and prepared between teaching groups.
- Room readiness: confirm power, water, drainage, ventilation, compressed air or heat services required by the selected process.
- Handover evidence: request supplied accessories, operating instructions, experiment guidance and site exclusions in the quotation.

Send the product or process names, intended teaching material, group size, quantities, destination and available utilities. The response should identify the exact model and any site work or accessories outside the offer.
What a comparable supplier response should show
A useful response names the proposed product and model, answers each technical line, identifies included accessories and documents, records deviations, lists site utilities and states what is excluded. This lets an institution or distributor compare scope before price and gives the acceptance team a written reference for delivery.
