Frequently Asked Questions

How can an institution request a quotation?

Send the product or experiment requirement, quantity, destination and any tender requirements to Scientico. The quotation is prepared against the confirmed scope.

What information should be included in a laboratory equipment enquiry?

Include the required model or syllabus, quantity, electrical supply, required accessories, destination and preferred delivery terms. This allows the equipment scope to be checked correctly.

Which documents can be discussed before ordering?

Ask for the documentation required for the selected model and destination. Availability of manuals, calibration records, declarations, packing information and export documents is confirmed in the quotation.

How to Specify Mechatronics for a Lab or Tender

Select equipment against the course experiment, measurable outcome and operating conditions required by the institution. Start with the product or experiment name. Use a catalogue model only to identify the configuration being offered after the buyer's functional requirement is clear.

Questions to settle before requesting prices

  • Which experiment or practical outcome is required?
  • What range, capacity and measurement method must be provided?
  • Which accessories, utilities and documents form the supplied scope?
  • What quantity, destination and tender format apply?

How to compare distributor or supplier offers

Compare the measurable specification, included accessories, experiment coverage and written exclusions before comparing commercial offers.

Keep the buyer's original line numbers. Record the offered product, model, included scope, deviation and document reference in separate columns.

Information Scientico needs

Send the product names or syllabus, quantities, destination, required utilities, requested documents and submission deadline. If a reference brand or model appears, attach the underlying specification so equivalence can be checked.

About Mechatronics

Mechatronics is the point where mechanical design, electronics, control and computing stop behaving like separate subjects. That is the whole teaching problem, and it is why a mechatronics laboratory cannot be assembled by buying one good machine from each of the other labs. A student who has studied sensors in an instrumentation lab, pneumatics in a fluid power lab and ladder logic in a PLC lab still has no idea how a proximity sensor, a double acting cylinder, a solenoid valve and a controller scan cycle behave when they are wired to the same job and one of them is out of tolerance.

So the first specification decision is not a product. It is a principle: every station you buy should let a student combine sensing, actuation, control and programming on one platform, and should let them break that combination on purpose and diagnose it. Equipment that only demonstrates a finished sequence teaches observation. Equipment that can be reconfigured, mis-wired, re-timed and fault-loaded teaches mechatronics.

We have been manufacturing and exporting engineering teaching equipment from our own works in Ambala since 1993, and mechatronics is the category where departments most often buy the wrong thing first: a sealed demonstration rig that looks impressive at inspection and is unusable by the third semester because nothing on it can be changed.

Equipment classes in this range

A working mechatronics lab is usually built from six families. Most departments start with two or three and expand, which is why expandability matters more here than in any other lab.

Equipment classWhat it actually teachesConfiguration notes

Mechatronics workstations and modular assembly systemsIntegration of a full cycle: feed, transfer, process, test, sort. Station handover signalling between adjacent modulesSpecify station count now and the maximum the frame and control bus will accept later. Handover interface must be documented, not proprietary and undocumented
Sensor and actuator trainersInductive, capacitive, optical, magnetic and ultrasonic sensing behaviour against real targets, plus actuator response, dead band and settlingAsk for target samples in several materials. A sensor board that only ever sees one steel plate teaches nothing about false triggering
Pneumatic and electro-pneumatic trainersCircuit building, sequencing, cascade and step logic, then the same sequence rewritten in relay and in PLC formQuick connect fittings, profile plate or grid mounting, and enough spare valves and cylinders for two circuits to run in parallel
Robotics and pick and place trainersCoordinate frames, teach and playback, gripper selection, cycle timing and interlocking with a conveyorDecide early whether you need an articulated arm or a cartesian pick and place. The second teaches axis control more clearly and costs less to keep running
PLC and microcontroller integration platformsThe same control problem solved twice, once in ladder or structured text and once in embedded C, which is the comparison industry actually asks graduates aboutConfirm the programming environment, the licence terms and whether student laptops can run it
Conveyor and sorting systemsMaterial handling, encoder feedback, colour or height or material based sorting, reject handling and throughput measurementBelt speed control and a diverter or pusher station make this the most useful single purchase for project work

What to specify, and how to word it

Mechatronics tenders fail technical evaluation more often than any other lab category, usually because the specification described an outcome instead of an interface. A supplier can meet "PLC controlled sorting station" with almost anything. Tighten these six points and the comparison becomes real. If you are drafting from scratch, the method in our guide to writing lab equipment specifications applies directly here.

SpecifyWhy it decides the purchase

Modularity and reconfigurationState whether stations must be separable and re-orderable by a lab technician without factory support. This single line separates a teaching system from a demonstration rig
Control platform and programming environmentName the controller family, the communication protocol between stations, and whether the software licence is per seat, per lab or unlimited for students. Ask what happens to the licence in year four
Fault insertionAsk for a documented fault set: open circuit, shorted sensor, stuck valve, reversed polarity, drifted setpoint. Ask how faults are inserted, whether by switch bank, software or physical link, and whether a student can insert them for a peer without damaging the unit
ExpandabilityFrame capacity, controller I/O headroom, power and air capacity for the stations you have not bought yet. Buying a system that is already at its I/O limit is the most common regret in this category
Safety for student operationGuarding on moving parts, emergency stop reachable from the operating position, pressure relief, residual air bleed on shutdown, and clear separation of live terminals from the training area
DocumentationCircuit diagrams, I/O lists, sample programs, and experiment sheets that map to your syllabus rather than to a generic manual

Where a mechanical property has to be verified rather than demonstrated, cite the applicable test method in the specification instead of leaving it open. Our standards reference for engineering lab testing covers how to phrase that so an evaluator can check it.

Accreditation and industry alignment

Mechatronics is the easiest lab to defend in an accreditation visit and the easiest to lose marks on. Assessors are looking for programme outcome mapping, experiment records, utilisation and calibration or maintenance evidence, not for the number of stations. A three station line that runs every week with logged experiments scores better than a ten station line that is switched on for the visit.

Map each station to specific programme outcomes before you buy, keep the experiment sheets and the maintenance log together, and you have most of the file already built. The documentation set expected is laid out in our NBA accreditation lab documentation guide, and the space, staffing and equipment expectations for the lab itself are covered in the AICTE lab requirements guide. If the mechatronics lab is part of a wider mechanical department build, the B.Tech mechanical lab equipment list and the budget planning guide by intake will tell you where mechatronics should sit in the sequence.

The industry alignment argument is worth making in your proposal to management. Sensor selection, PLC troubleshooting, pneumatic sequencing and pick and place programming are hiring line items in automotive, packaging, pharmaceutical and warehousing plants. A department that can point at a working integrated line has a placement story that a set of isolated trainers does not.

Technician training, spares and uptime

Mechatronics equipment has more failure points than static apparatus. Seals harden, sensors drift, connectors fatigue from repeated student handling, and belts stretch. Plan for that at purchase rather than at breakdown.

Order a consumable and wear kit with the system: tubing, fittings, seals, spare proximity and photoelectric sensors, fuses, and at least one spare of whatever module the whole line depends on. Get one technician trained on the control platform at commissioning, not a year later. Then put the whole lab on a written schedule using our calibration and maintenance schedule guide, and confirm the supplier's spares position before award using the questions in our spare parts and after sales support guide. If the lab is a new build, sequence civil work, compressed air, power and delivery using the new lab setup timeline checklist, because air lines and floor anchoring are the two items that hold up commissioning.

For distributors, resellers and tender bidders

Mechatronics is a good category to represent and a bad one to bid casually. The margin is better than commodity apparatus because the configuration work is real, but the technical evaluation is stricter and the after sales exposure is longer. What you need from a manufacturer here is specific.

What you needWhat we provide

Specification detail that survives technical evaluationStation level specification sheets, I/O lists, control platform detail and layout drawings you can attach to a bid without rewriting
Manufacturer authorisation for bidsManufacturer authorisation issued against a named tender, in the format the buyer's document asks for
Documentation for the buyer's fileISO 9001:2015 certification, CE conformity documentation on applicable models, factory calibration certificates, and export documentation for overseas shipments
Spares over the product lifeModule and consumable level spares supported from our own works, so you are not dependent on a trading house holding stock
Installation responsibilityAgreed in writing before the bid, so scope, air and power preparation, commissioning and training are priced by whoever is actually doing them

If you are evaluating us as a supply partner, do it properly: the checks worth running on any Indian manufacturer are set out in our manufacturer due diligence guide, and our own certification position is documented on the quality certifications page. For authorisation, start with what an MAF is and then the practical process in our MAF for lab equipment tenders page. Government bids need the file assembled correctly, which is covered in the tender documents checklist and the GeM procurement guide. Importers outside India should read the importer guide alongside our export documentation guide, and territory enquiries go through the distributor and dealership page. Drawings and catalogue material are on downloads.

Working with us

We have manufactured and exported teaching equipment from our own works in Ambala, Haryana since 1993, and supply to more than 60 countries. The company is ISO 9001:2015 certified, and CE conformity documentation is available on applicable models. Calibration certificates issued with our equipment are factory certificates. We are not ISO/IEC 17025 or NABL accredited, and we state that in writing rather than let a tender file assume otherwise.

Everything in this category is quoted against your requirement, because station count, control platform and module mix move the figure far more than the base apparatus does. Send the syllabus pages, the room dimensions and the utilities available, and you will get a configuration proposal, a specification sheet you can put straight into a tender, and a quotation.
