Start with the equipment decision, not the channel
First identify the apparatus, experiment or process requirement that the laboratory must support. A procurement route cannot correct an unclear model requirement. Record the discipline, required experiment or application, quantity, available utilities, destination and the documents your review team needs. Compare the roles against your project
A manufacturer and a distributor can contribute in different ways. The practical question is which party can give the buyer a documented, model-specific response for the needs of this project. Do not treat a company name, catalogue image or generic certificate list as evidence that a particular model, accessory or service is included.

Ask these five questions before selecting a route
- Which exact model is being offered? Request the product name, reference code and a link or datasheet that matches the quotation.
- What is included and excluded? Separate the main apparatus, accessories, documentation, installation requirements and optional items.
- Who will answer model-specific technical questions? Name the contact and state how configuration questions will be resolved before order confirmation.
- Who is responsible for each local activity? If a distributor is involved, document its role for procurement coordination, delivery, installation or service only where it has confirmed that role.
- What evidence will the project keep? Agree the quotation, product documentation, acceptance checks and open-action record required for handover.
