Most KRG importers I talk to prefer the Mersin-Habur route. Federal Umm Qasr routing works and is sometimes cheaper on sea leg, but the trucking and dual-customs handling adds days and cost that usually eats the saving.
Language and documentation
Public tenders and BOQs in the region come out in Kurdish (Sorani, Arabic script) and Arabic. Larger institutions such as AUIS, UKH and Komar issue in English, and most donor-funded RFQs are English by default.
