Outdoor Solar Energy Training System | RVX-002

The Outdoor Solar Energy Training System RVX-002 is a field-ready solar power experimental platform that demonstrates power transformation from solar PV modules to battery and from battery to loads. The system supports eleven structured experiments covering solar module behaviour under illuminance, temperature, and shading conditions; parameter testing; MPPT charge controller and grid-tied inverter functions; inclination angle effects; and efficiency calculation. As a complete outdoor solar energy trainer, the RVX-002 integrates a moveable solar module frame, temperature sensor, DC voltmeter, DC current meter, temperature indicator, MPPT charge controller, power inverter, and power meter — all on a single frame. DAQ software designed in National Instruments LabVIEW is included and runs on any Windows system.

The Outdoor Solar Energy Training System RVX-002 is a field-ready solar power experimental platform designed to demonstrate the complete cycle of solar energy utilisation — from photovoltaic generation through battery storage to load delivery. As a purpose-built solar energy trainer, the RVX-002 enables hands-on investigation of how solar PV modules transform solar power into usable electrical energy across real outdoor conditions.

Product Overview

The Outdoor Solar Energy Training System RVX-002 demonstrates power transformation from solar PV modules to battery, and from battery to loads. The system covers the behaviour of solar modules under varying illuminance, temperature, and shading conditions; parameter testing including short circuit current, open circuit voltage, maximum output voltage, and maximum output current; the relationship between solar module inclination angle, output voltage, and output current; solar module efficiency calculation; charge controller function; and the function of an inverter in a grid-tied solar system.

The trainer integrates a moveable solar module frame, temperature sensor, DC voltmeter, DC current meter, temperature indicator, power inverter, and power meter into a single modular outdoor platform.

Construction and Design

The Outdoor Solar Energy Training System RVX-002 is built around a modular architecture in which each functional block is housed as a discrete, interchangeable module mounted on a common frame. The solar power experimental platform features a moveable solar module frame accommodating the Dual Solar Panel Module, allowing inclination angle adjustment for outdoor field conditions. A temperature sensor and temperature indicator are integrated for continuous thermal monitoring. DC voltmeter and DC current meter provide direct on-board measurement of module output parameters. The MPPT Charge Controller, Off-Grid Power Inverter, and Measuring Module complete the power chain. All modules are interconnected via the included set of leads. The battery (12V standard, 24V on demand) is not included and must be sourced by the end user.

Software

DAQ software specially designed in the National Instruments LabVIEW environment to measure and calculate experimental results. A set of electronic sensors is included for use with the software. Compatible with any Windows operating system.

Q1. Is the battery included with the Outdoor Solar Energy Training System RVX-002?

No. The battery (12V standard, 24V on demand) is not included due to export policy and must be arranged by the end user.

Q2. What software is provided, and what are the system requirements?

The system includes DAQ software designed in the National Instruments LabVIEW environment. It can be run on any Windows operating system and includes a set of electronic sensors.

Q3. How does the RVX-002 differ from an indoor solar trainer?

The Outdoor Solar Energy Training System RVX-002 is designed for field deployment using natural sunlight, without an artificial light source or intensity control module. It includes a DC voltmeter, DC current meter, and temperature indicator for direct on-board measurement under outdoor conditions.

Q4. What charge controller technology does the RVX-002 use?

The solar power experimental platform uses an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) Charge Controller, which optimises energy harvest from the solar PV modules into the battery under varying outdoor conditions.

Q5. Can the RVX-002 support grid-tied experiments?

Yes. The system demonstrates the function of an inverter in a grid-tied solar system. The optional Electric Energy Meter Module enables two-way energy metering for grid-tied operation.
