Water Treatment Pilot Plant – HydraNexis HNX 07

The Water Treatment Pilot Plant (HydraNexis HNX 07) by SCIENTICO is a modular laboratory-scale system demonstrating depth filtration, adsorption, and ion exchange processes. It enables hands-on study of conventional water treatment operations with full PLC control and real-time monitoring. Designed for education and research, the system supports comprehensive experimentation and data analysis in water treatment technology.

The Water Treatment Pilot Plant (HydraNexis HNX 07) is a comprehensive laboratory and pilot-scale system designed to demonstrate the three principal unit operations used in conventional water treatment: depth filtration, adsorption, and ion exchange. Manufactured by SCIENTICO under the HydraNexis series, this pilot plant is ideal for academic institutions, research laboratories, and professional training centers focused on water and environmental engineering.
Product Overview
The HydraNexis HNX 07 enables hands-on demonstration and analysis of multi-stage water treatment processes. Raw water is pumped from a dedicated supply unit into a gravel filter followed by a sand filter, where suspended solids are removed through depth filtration. Differential pressure across the filters allows observation of pressure loss and clogging behavior. In the second treatment stage, dissolved contaminants are removed through adsorption using activated carbon and aluminum oxide adsorbers. The treated water then passes into the ion exchange stage, where undesirable ions are removed. Initially, a cation exchanger is used for water softening, followed by a mixed-bed ion exchanger (cation and anion) for desalination. Raw and treated water are stored in separate tanks. The raw water tank can be aerated to ensure homogeneous mixing and to promote precipitation of dissolved substances such as iron, which can then be removed by filtration. A backwashing connection is provided for cleaning the sand filter. The system is fully instrumented with flow, pressure, differential pressure, conductivity, and temperature measurements. A PLC-controlled system with a touch panel enables real-time monitoring, control, and data visualization. Measured data can be transferred via USB to a PC for further analysis, with optional DAQ software support.
