It enables measurement of lift, drag, velocity, and angle of attack on stationary models. The system features a transparent measuring section, low-turbulence airflow, and electronic force measurement. Optional DAQ hardware and software support digital data acquisition and reporting. Suitable for academic teaching and laboratory experimentation.

The Mini Wind Tunnel FluidoSurgeX 219 is a laboratory-scale subsonic wind tunnel designed for aerodynamics and fluid mechanics experiments. Manufactured by SCIENTICO, it enables controlled study of airflow behavior around stationary test models. The system supports accurate measurement of lift, drag, velocity, and angle of attack. Optional digital data acquisition enhances experimental analysis.

Product Overview

FluidoSurgeX 219 is an Eiffel type open-circuit wind tunnel in which air is drawn in, accelerated through a nozzle, and directed through a transparent measuring section. Test models such as aerofoils and drag bodies are mounted within this section for observation and force measurement. After passing the model, air decelerates in a diffuser and is expelled back into the atmosphere by a fan. Flow straighteners and inlet contour ensure uniform, low-turbulence airflow suitable for educational and laboratory use.

Construction & Design Details-

The wind tunnel incorporates metal construction for the inlet contour, nozzle, and diffuser to ensure stable airflow characteristics. The measuring section is transparent, allowing visual inspection of airflow and interaction with test models. Aerodynamic forces are measured using an electronic two-component force sensor, while air velocity is indicated via an inclined tube manometer. Angle of attack can be adjusted manually or digitally when the DAQ system is used.

Data Acquisition Software (Optional)-

The optional DAQ software  is designed for use with the FluidoSurgeX 219 when equipped with the data acquisition system. Developed in the NITM LabVIEW™ environment, the software enables real-time acquisition, processing, and visualization of experimental data on a Windows-based PC.

Measured parameters such as pressure, air velocity, angle of attack, and aerodynamic forces are displayed numerically and graphically. The software allows aggregation of measured and calculated values into tables, plots, and images. At the end of each experiment, a comprehensive CSV report containing all recorded data and graphs can be generated for documentation and further analysis.

Experiments-

  • Determination of lift and drag coefficients for different models

  • Study of lift and drag at varying angles of attack

  • Study of lift and drag at different air velocities

  • Drag measurement on different body shapes

  • Streamline visualization in conjunction with an optional smoke generator

Standard Scope of Delivery-

  • 1 experiment module

  • 1 set of drag bodies
